Through the universal language of the arts, and through partnerships with Jewish educational organizations, we aim through this program area to lead those who are Jewish to a deeper connection with Jewish tradition and teachings, and to respectfully expose those who are not familiar with Judaism to the rich beauty of Jewish heritage and to a different perspective than they may have had before.  To achieve this goal, we align programs in this category with the following three pillars of Jewish observance:

  1. Emunah (“Belief in G-d”): This is the pillar upon which all else stands. We learn from the Sages that the entire Torah can be distilled down to this.
  2. Derech Eretz (“Proper Conduct”): Literally “the way of the land,” derech eretz has several meanings and conveys the common decency that is a precursor to Torah, often known as ‘being a mensch.’
  3. Torah: The Five Books of the Hebrew Bible and their elaboration by the Sages, Torah is the encapsulation of G-d’s Wisdom.

All of these pillars are means in the Jewish faith towards achieving fundamental goals upon which Jewish life is based, including: Dveykus (Connecting to and developing a relationship with G-d by emulating  G-d’s Ways); “Kavod Shamayim”(Rectifying the world to reveal G-d’s Glory); and Kiddush Hashem (Sanctifying G-d’s Name through the way one leads one’s life).

RUACH welcomes all to enjoy and participate in our Three Pillars programs, which provide yet another opportunity to come together and learn!
